Today we launch a new feature in OBIS. You can now search data in OBIS from the 46 World Heritage marine sites.

OBIS holds over 1 million species observations from 15,000 marine species in these World Heritage sites, of which 1,000 species are new to science since the sites' inscriptions.

Learn how to search data in OBIS for world heritage marine sites by watching our video here.

IODE Sponsored by:
Martin International and Les Grands Explorateurs
With in-kind support from:
Marine Geospatial Ecology Lab, Duke University
Universidad Simón Bolívar Flanders Marine Institute

OBIS strives to document the ocean's diversity, distribution and abundance of life. Created by the Census of Marine Life, OBIS is now part of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO, under its International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE) programme.
