OBIS 地域拠点 (RONs) は、OBIS のサポート団体として地域や国毎にもうけられた組織です。地域拠点は、データをオンラインで提供したり、データ提供者と利用者感のコミュニティを作ることを目的としています。地域拠点の中には、独自のツールや OBIS システムのミラーサイトを提供する所もあります。
The OBIS MC は、各地域拠点の代表者で構成されます。現在の OBIS MC は、２０１０年末までに IODE Steering Group for OBIS に移行する予定です。
