May 08, 2018 - OBISOBIS network Fish

FishNet2 and FishBase together are the new global thematic Fish OBIS node

FishNet2 will provide specimen-vouchered occurrences and data derived from specimens, and FishBase will provide occurrence data gathered through trawling surveys, ecological monitoring etc. Together they will be representing the global thematic Fish OBIS node.

FishBase is now hosted by Quantitative Aquatics, Inc. (Q-quatics), which is a not-for-profit NGO established in the Philippines, and manages or participates to global biodiversity information systems including FishBase, SeaLifeBase, the global fisheries initiative Sea Around Us, the Catalogue of Life and the global aquatic biogeography initiative, AquaMaps. Previously, these operated under different entities.
FishNet2 is hosted by the Tulane University Biodiversity Research Institute (TUBRI), which is a research center of the School of Science and Engineering of the Tulane University (USA). FishNet2 provides access to data records for over 40 million preserved fish specimens globally (http://www.fishnet2.net).

Both Q-quatics and TUBRI joined the IODE network as Associate Data Units (ADUs).
